Self-Introduction
2001-11-17
When I was four years old, I started to practice Chinese handwriting. You know Chinese handwriting is one of the most traditional arts. It needs a lot of practice. So every day I had to practice writing for one hour at least. When I was in the primary school, thanks to the ability, I took part in many communicational activities with foreign friends. One of my works was set to them as a present. My primary school, XueJun elementary school, is among the schools which first opened to foreigners. So every year a group of delegation from Fukui would visit my school. In those communicational activities, I performed writing so I had many chances to contact with the outside world. So I was greatly impressed by them
Since I entered XueJun Middle School at 13, I have been lucky enough because XueJun is also an open school. She has many sister schools in Japan , Australia , Germany and so on. So it has a long history of communication with foreign schools. And every year about 500 hundred Japanese students visit my school. What has impressed me most is my first visit to Japan . In 1999 I joined the "Chinese first middle school student delegation to Japan ". It was organized by the state and was greatly concerned by the top leaders of the two countries. Well, you know in 1998 President Jiang Zeming paid a visit to Japan , and signed 33 agreements with the Japanese government. Among them the communication of the young students between both countries become the most important item. So in 1999 the first delegation was sent to Japan . The 93 students (in the delegation) were selected from 6 provinces in China . And there were 4 students who came from Hangzhou , 2 of them were from my school, and I was very lucky to be one of them. I think it is a precious experience, because it was the first time for the two countries to sent high school students to each other. So I was not only a middle school student, but also a person who represented millions of students in China . During the 9 days of the visit, I went to some large cities in Japan , such like Tokyo , Osaka , Okayama and so on. In Tokyo, I visited the Chinese embassies in Japan, Diet Building( ¹ú»áÒéÊÂÌà ), Sony media world, NHK, Nissan motor company . And in Okayama , we had a good time with the local students. During this visit I was able to have a further and wider understanding of Japan from the places of interests, the hi technology, the agriculture, the state's departments etc. Although there were only 9 days, it gave me a deep impression of Japan , and I think it is really a good chance to learn from Japan , of course it enlarged my knowledge as well.
So in a word, such communication activities are of great value and I came to love them. Naturally, I hope I can continue to take part in this kind of activities. That's why I came here today. This is one of the major reasons.
On the other hand, I think it is important to learn form the advanced country, such like the hi-technology, the experiences of organization and so on, especially when the world becomes smaller and smaller. Japan is the largest trade partner of China , and China is also the second largest trade partner of Japan . So the economic activities will become more frequent. Take my uncle for example, he is the manager of a foreign trade company. Every year, among over ten million Yuan of profit, about 80% of it come from the trade with Japanese businessman. But these years, with the development of his company he finds a lot of difficulties in his business, such as the language, the knowledge of the organization, and so on. So he often tells me the importance of learning about the foreign countries, especially the developed countries.
So I think going aboard to study is a kind of training, not only for the scientific knowledge, but also for a better understanding of Japan , so as to develop the friendship between Japan and China .
Your strongpoint
Generally speaking, I think I can do well in organization activities. That is because since the primary school I have been monitor of the class. So I have gained a lot of practical work experience. I always think only through practice can it help me to develop myself. For example, the most meaningful thing happened in the Grade 2. I became the editor of our class magazine. I am familiar with the operation of the computer, so I took charge of the edition, but it is hard to publish such a magazine all by myself. So I asked 6 of my classmates to help me. I had some of them select and check up the compositions, someone of them type the compositions into the computer, when they finished typing, they sent all the materials to me, and I and I made the last designs. We altogether spent 4 weeks to finish. In Grade 3 I built a web site about this magazine and published it on the Internet. Since then I have value the teamwork very much. You know we were extremely busy with our studies, but everyone spared me his time kindly to finish the work on time. At that time, our works became very popular in my school, and it was kept forever in my school. A long time later, the journalist of Qianjiang evening paper showed his interesting in our magazine.
Your weak-points.
I guess everyone has his weak-points, and everyone has failed in doing something. For me, maybe I'm not a person with great patience, because I am always eager to finish doing St. in a short time. Sometimes, it can't be done perfectly. I think I will overcome it in the future. And it happened to occur when I was taking some of the important examinations. This is something I should pay great attention to.
Spare time.
Except practicing handwriting, I read some books, and I always suggest my classmates and parents read a lot. Because reading can make a person wiser. I read a famous book published both in American and China--- "Tuesday with Morrie". Many people have read it. It is a great book and it tells us how to live in the word. Corkey once said, "Reading a book is just like talking to a famous person." The great person that he referred is not any one else but Morrie. So in my opinion, it is well worth reading.
When I last time went to Japan, I made a lot of Japanese friends, so every Saturday and Sunday, I often sent e-mails to them and chatted with them. We talk about the life in two different countries, talk about the school life, the music, the movie, and the festivals. Now we have became good friends and we never stop writing.
